Step 5: Become Prayerful
When we ended step 4/day 4 with a prayer. Today lets start with a prayer.
Heavenly father, Please help to direct my day in the way that you want it accomplished. May I learn from your word and this study. Help me to put what I have learned into action. May I keep on my heart that ONLY through YOU can I accomplish what my heart desires. To be one with you, and a Proverbs 31 woman is my true hearts longing. Please bless my family and this day Lord. ~Amen.~
If you have other things to add to the days prayer please feel free. When learning to become a new women and a God focused woman at that we need to not only remember to arm ourselves with scripture but also with prayer. Without communication there is no relationship. Without your relationship with God, there will be no long lasting changes.
Day 5: Say a Prayer, Walk with God
Today take the time to “walk with God.” Have a date with him tell him how you feel about him and how you would like your relationship to change. Tell him anything and everything that comes to your mind. Remember do not become to needy. God is not our magic geenie in a magic bottle to fulfill our wishes whenever we decide to speak to him. He is our God. Our beloved. Without him we have nothing. So talk to him. Talk to him as you would talk to your husband while out on a date. Now if you cannot literally get out of your house for walk then take some time during the day, even if it’s the end of the day, and have special time together. Read a special passage out of song of Solomon if that helps to make it more romantic. Also, get yourself all dressed up and throw on some make up and perfume! This might help to set the mood as well. When you go out for your walk, or sit down in a separate room for your date, make sure you tell your husband/kids that you are having alone time with God and you should not be disturbed. This will allow for some much needed intimacy. You know that word, probably not used to using it in reference to God but you should. He is very intimate! He created intimacy didn’t he?
Lets also revisit Proverbs 31.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
15 She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
When Im looking at these particular versus from this passage I like to use a modern day translation to help me better understand it. “13 She finds wool and flax, and busily spins it.” This is from the New Living Translation. Of course basically saying the same thing, she gathers materials and makes things that are needed. Verse 14 “She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar.” For me this verse reminds me of a mother going grocery shopping, checking all the sales papers and finding the best deals for her family. Traveling to each and every store to get the best price and the healthiest goods. Do you do this when grocery shopping? Even if you have been blessed with wealth, if you remember to take this step you will be saving money that could be used for other family activities or donated to charity. Verse 15, “15 She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.” This is where it starts to get challenging for women of today, I think. At least I know this is where I start to get weak. Wake up BEFORE dawn? AND prepare breakfast? AND plan my days work?! Are you serious? Well, yes, of course. A lot of women, even myself, will think, “well gee whiz, I’ll never be able to get up that early, I’ll be SO tired!” If you get yourself to bed early, you will be able to get up early. I know many husbands work early hours. At least mine does when he is in the military. My new goal will be to wake 30 minutes before my husband needs to be awake to get his breakfast and lunch packed up. Then wake him and enjoy our time together and then wake the children. If you have young children who do not need to be awake for school you can always leave them asleep and get some chores done before they awake, then this saves you from doing it at nap time. So from these versus we have learned that she is resourceful and we are starting to see that she is utilizing her time well. Do you think this runs hand in hand with the first few versus? Being virtuous and a woman your husband can trust? It most definitely does! The versus from Proverbs 31 will all work together and start to make a lot of sense to you. How amazing is it that God placed instructions on how to be a successful homemaker right there in the Bible?! I think its fantastic.
So to do list for today is as follows:

He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil;
He who keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.

But its end is the way of death.
26 The person who labors, labors for himself,
For his hungry mouth drives him on.
27 An ungodly man digs up evil,
And it is on his lips like a burning fire.
28 A perverse man sows strife,
And a whisperer separates the best of friends.
29 A violent man entices his neighbor,
And leads him in a way that is not good.
30 He winks his eye to devise perverse things;
He purses his lips and brings about evil.
31 The silver-haired head is a crown of glory,
If it is found in the way of righteousness.
32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
33 The lot is cast into the lap,
But its every decision is from the LORD.
