When is it enough?

Standard

Lately I had a conversation with hubby about my standards for myself and my days. I often try to take on too much or set to high of standards for myself, then I either abandon them because its such a mountain or I fail miserably. It’s very hard being a stay at home mom. Always trying to feel busy enough. Trying to make the house clean enough. Kids smart and busy enough. Why is it that we homemakers let ourselves get so overwhelmed. I find myself making to do lists for the house and projects but thats not the reason Im a homemaker now is it? No, I became a stay at home mother when we decided it was more expensive for me to work outside of the home than it was to stay home with D. About 15 months later I realized what it meant to be a homemaker. However, until recently that vision too was blurred. I envisioned my days starting before the sun rose, making my husband breakfast, sending him off to work, and then spending my days on cleaning and projects then ending with a successful healthy dinner followed by cleaning up the house AGAIN. Not in one place do I see wrapping myself up in the children. If our reason for being a stay at home mom is to give our children a happy healthy childhood then why is it we find ourselves wrapped up in our house?

When I moved into my new apartment it didnt feel like home until I scattered toys all in the living room. Then I stood there and breathed in deeply exclaiming, “Now it feels like home.” As stay at home mothers we should try to focus on what our TRUE reason is for being home. I have a feeling that almost none of us stayed home so that we could keep up on housework.  My to do list for today included going to the laundrymat to do a load of laundry and stopping by the store to pick up some jelly. However, Ive decided to stay at home and play with my little boy. Oh and throw some homework in the mix too. That is a necessity right now.

It sucks that we often get too wrapped up in to do lists and “life” that we forget to stop and admire our children. Im not saying that all stay at home moms feel this way but I’ve noticed from forums and friends that we just dont get ENOUGH done in our days. However if you ask a mother everything she went through in that day, it was probably rather exhausting. She most likely had to clean up a few messes, cared for animals(if she has any), cooked AT LEAST 3 meals, managed nap time, bath time, perhaps story time, avoided sibling fights, sat kids in time out, and somehwhere in there she managed somehow to take a moment to breathe. Most likely only done while locking herself in the bathroom to pee lol.

Mommies, try to be a little easier on yourselves. Try to focus on the kiddos and then throw something else into the mix when its only necessary or can logically be worked in without frustrating you, the kids, or making you horribly exhausted.

When is it enough? It will be ENOUGH when you make it ENOUGH.

If we have time, have him start on leaf poster project.

Have music/dance time with the boys.

Story time and work on sign language.

R is learning fish this week :) Need to figure out some new signs for D too

Mommas School To-Do List

Read Chapter 6 in Criminal Justice

Do research for CRMJ Paper.

Read Chapter 7 in Foundations

For the FlyLady challenge we are starting back on Day 10 since I got sick and was not able to complete this day. Hopefully I will be able to complete all this stuff! I think if I stick with it I should be able to. My schoolwork really should only take about 2 hours so if I do an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, maybe when I put the boys down, then I will be good. Well I better get to sleep so I have plenty of energy to do all this in the morning :)

A Brand New Day

Standard

Today was a great Monday! I am starting to like Mondays, they are a brand new start, fresh and clean week. Great time to start new changes. This week we are all feeling better, so time to get back to my routines! I received my books in the mail that I will be reviewing! SOO excited!

I also started back up with homeschooling D! This is what I am really ecstatic about :) I have been doing a lot of thinking and research and I really feel that he is supposed to be in the home. Public school just isnt going to work for our family I dont think. So, today we started with a science lesson. Comparing plants. He looked and described the plants leaves, then counted them. We wrote it all down and then added up the leaves :) I was so proud of him! We also had a discussion about how plants need water and sunlight. We then did music and dance time! This was a lot of fun! Tomorrow we are going to look at another plant and then compare the two as well as do some math and writing. Then on wednesday I am going to have him paint a picture of the leaves to put into his learning binder! I am so glad Im getting back into this. I am doing storytime with R after nap so that he can start learning as well, and then we will play with blocks and work on sign language :) This week we are learning the sign for fish!

Tonight I will write the bible study and put up my goal for FlyLady challenge for tomorrow :) Hope you all have a blessed day!

Sick yet amazing

Standard

So today was an interesting day. I woke up sicker than a dog. Poor ray was cranky and not feeling well either. He wouldnt eat or drink anything. Daven was being an angel finally! My dad was home sore from his back again. My mom still recovering from her cold. However, Ray and I cuddled a lot and we all hung out. I managed to go ALL DAY with not abdominal pain or pain over my ovaries, therefor, I went a WHOLE DAY without needing pain medications!!! Its been 2 months since I could do that!! Im so thankful! Im hopeful that my body might do better, but im still being causious. I was also able to complete quite a bit of homework today yay! So even though I was all snotty and yucky and feverish it was overall a great day. OH! And I made ground chicken burgers with cheese and ranch. They would have been chicken bacon ranch but no bacon lol. Ray finally ate and drank a bunch of juice and formula :) We took a break from pottying as we were both feeling so yucky. Hopefully we feel better tomorrow. If so I will resume FlyLady Challenge. It will be Day 9. Whew She is starting to load on the work huh? ;)

“We have already been using our timers for 2 minutes and now 5 minutes. Today we are going to learn the power of just 15 minutes. You can do anything for 15 minutes. This is all about getting started and giving ourselves permission to stop when the timer goes off. You cannot restart the timer either. This is not a race to finish in 15 minutes either! The timer helps to keep us focused on what we are doing.

Now set your timer for 15 minutes and go gather up all the trash you can find to throw away and put it in the garbage can outside. Then set your timer for another 15 minutes and sit down and put your feet up and read a favorite magazine till the timer goes off.”

So add the 15 minutes to the 2 minute hot spot and the 5 minute declutter and we only clean for 22 minutes! You will be amazed what you can get done in such little time :) Well ladies hope you all have a great day! Oh as soon as I can get the camera to work I will be posting pics for the Dress Challenge and writing a blog on it :)

God Bless!

Putting the Old me behind ME!

Standard

Today was a hard day for me. Finding out about my health situation was hard. Now, Im trying to move past that and put my trust in God.

D has been having a lot of behavior problems which is telling me I am not doing a good job. I need to be more structured. I need a better schedule for him. I have allowed myself to be so weak due to my health problems but now he is suffering. So I need to suck it up and deal with the pain and just take care of my family. God is helping me by having me write this bible study. He is also speaking to me on numerous things and putting weight on my heart about my discipline. Now I need to put it into action. So here’s to starting a new me on a new day tomorrow.

Tomorrow is also Day 8 in the FlyLady Challenge. So I will be decluttering for 5 minutes which is REALLY needed! So that should be fun. And its only for 5 minutes!

So my todo list for tomorrow.

Spend 2 hours on homework. One in the morning and one at night. Done 30 minutes so far.

Start my dresses only challenge. Wearing my green flower dress today :) Post pictures later!

Complete readings for HomeMaking Bible Study.

Complete FlyLady tasks. Still need to do my hotspot and declutter. Together thats 5 minutes. I can do that! I however did manage to get rays sippy’s washed today and will take out the trash along with declutter!

Sounds easy enough written down. Hope I can get myself motivated in the morning. Looks like I should invest in some coffee and start getting myself to sleep earlier. Im also going to start monitoring my time on my computer. I spend way too much time on here. Not even really accomplishing anything.

Have a blessed day ladies! Hope tomorrow can go smoothly.

Tomorrow is a brand new day

Standard

Well, I have managed to make it through another day. Thanks to God and percocet ;) Just a little joke. Today was rough. I had a lot of pain. But with the help of my parents and a brief phone call from my hubby I managed. Tomorrow is my follow up appointment with my doctor about the surgery. Im hoping he has more answers for me since the pain has now returned.

Onto a lighter note! Tomorrow is Day 8 in the FlyLady challenge! Now this is where the challenge starts to get exciting in my opinion! Here’s a little snippet from the FlyLady page for Day 8: “Today I want you to find an old three ring binder and just put some paper in it. Then at the top of one page write Morning Routine and on the top of another page write Before Bed Routine all in pencil. This is a working document; do not allow your perfectionism to interfere with the process. Now you can write your simple routines on each page.” I love love love working on my home management binder. Now in FlyLady terms that it is a control journal. But I like calling it a Home Management Binder ;) Sounds more fun to me :) Nothing against flylady of coure :) So! Im super excited to be working on this tomorrow!

On top of these two interesting tasks I also have homework to complete. Im still behind on a few assignments. Need to get my butt in gear. Maybe I will add those tasks to my binder as well! Ok ladies dont forget to check out the bible study for today and if you are doing that as well dont forget your daily proverbs. Have a blessed day!

Feeling Much Better!

Standard

I am feeling much better today, thus the title! No more normal pains over my ovaries. My energy level also appears to be up, which could be from getting so much sleep I guess. However, I would like to continue on with my flylady challenge tomorrow. So…moving on to DAY 6!

“Today we are going to learn about Hot Spots. We all have them. Here is a link on our website to read the definition of a Hot Spot.”

Along with the rest of our daily todo’s of course!

Now I know with the traditional FlyLady routine, they dont work on a “control journal” til later on. However, I already have a home management binder that I am just dying to dig into and rearrange! So, this weekend while Im not busy doing homework, or when I get bored from doing homework, I will be working on my HMB. Dont worry I will take pictures so you all can see. Do you have a HMB? Feel free to leave your blog link in the comments so that I can see yours as well!

What does everyone have planned for this up coming weekend? Well, tomorrow my mother is driving me to pick up my last paycheck from my recent job and pick up my new glasses! Besides for that I will be busy catching up on school work and resting up.

Have a blessed weekend everyone!
